ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Sania was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. At the time, I had no prior knowledge or understanding of Autism. After researching and learning things like "it is an incurable disease," I began to isolate the outside world. Denial and dislike from the realization that my normal life would never in fact be "normal" controlled me.
I muscled up the courage to no longer allow autism to control my life. Immediately following this acceptance, I turned to my community for support. After attending my first support group I left feeling more drained. Entering a group with my own challenges, only to leave with the added burden of others was a tough weight to carry. I realized what was missing for autism caregivers such as myself. An outlet that focuses on the care of the caregiver. No matter a child's functioning level (typical or neuro-typical) caregivers must first be the best to themselves, in order to be the best for their child. And thus Hope 4 Autism was born! I created Hope 4 Autism, Inc. with a vision to change the way autism negatively impacts the lives of those affected by the disorder. To encourage, highlight and inspire caregivers to be the best to themselves so they can in turn be the best for their child(ren). Today, I feel encouraged and blessed to have the opportunity to support those affected by autism spectrum disorder.- Carmen Veal
